Land Management

I would like to take this moment to extend my appreciation to Fred and Daniel Morales of Morales Feed and Supply in sharing their expertise, knowledge, and dedication to area farmers and ranchers. Within the last year, I have called upon them for their expertise in assisting me with my farming needs. Not only have they answered my calls and questions, they have personally met with me and given me first hand instructions I had been seeking with great results.
I encourage friends and family to experience the same by making Morales Feed and Supply your one stop headquarters. Without a doubt, the folks at Morales will go way beyond the call of their duty in assisting you. I am blessed to call them my them friends and am grateful for their help.

K-LINE Irrigation

Last spring I decided to plant some food plots for wild game. I had approximately six acres that I wanted to remove some spotty brush and return to farm land.
A friend recommended that I look into a K-line system. After meeting with the good folks at Morales Feed and Supply, they came up with a system that would accomplish my goal. I wanted a system that I could move and maintain on my own. Being 64 years old, I didn’t want to revisit the days of my youth and move irrigation pipe. Too many birthdays to even consider that!
They installed the system in April and I had to water the land to prepare it. We had early rains in the year but by the end of May, the moisture was gone. I worked the land and started watering the acreage. The well produces about 30 gallons a minute and I was able to keep the plots with sufficient moisture to grow a decent food crop. In addition the well provides water to my home and lawn as well as a fishing pond. With those demands, I had to stay on top of keeping the water where it was needed.
After the end of dove season, I once again found the land in need of moisture to work it. I wanted to plant oats for deer season. I started the K-line and in just a few days the land was worked and planted and by the middle of November, I had a stand of oats that any farmer would be proud of. I had to water the oat plot a couple of times in the winter and had good results in attracting deer. After deer season, the cows had an opportunity to graze and with some management, the oats were there all spring.
The beautiful thing about the K-line system is that it allows someone like me with a limited investment to prepare land by the calendar and not by moisture. In addition, rains in South Texas are too sporadic to be counted on. This one man operation allows you to water an area that otherwise would be unproductive and grow something that creates some hunting income.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Please give the folks a call at Morales Feed and Supply and see what they can create for you.
